The task of the energy scouts is to identify hidden efficiency potentials and energy-saving opportunities within the various areas of the company. In this way, the trainees at ebm-papst take on a high degree of responsibility and play a key role in driving climate protection and CO2 savings. We are proud that the Energy Scout concept was developed in our company in 2010. In Germany alone, more than 10,000 young people have now been trained as energy scouts in over 2,000 companies and have been ensuring corporate climate protection and energy efficiency ever since.
Climate protection and energy efficiency have been of great importance to ebm-papst since the company was founded. For me, it was therefore a matter close to my heart to sensitize our youngest colleagues to the topics and to win them over with a tailored program.
As energy scouts, our trainees are therefore a valuable support for achieving our sustainability goals – both locally and worldwide. For several years now, they have also been taking on their own sustainability projects from conception to implementation. Since the field of activity as an energy scout is invaluable in the long term – even beyond the period of training – they also learn the basics of project work and internal communication. As a result, they are excellently positioned for the future.
Our trainees learn how to use technical measuring instruments and how to evaluate the measurement data.
The project reached a special milestone in June 2015. Three ebm-papst energy scouts travelled to the USA from June 1 to 7 to raise awareness of the issues of climate protection, energy efficiency and sustainability initiated by US President Barack Obama. In presentations to different audiences, they reported on how they search for and repair energy leaks in domestic production.
The program has become of fundamental importance for the improvement and optimization of energy efficiency and sustainability, far beyond the boundaries of the company. And it's not just today. In the future, the "Energiscouts" training project will continue to sensitize many more young people to the concerns of sustainability.
