Studying on parental leave.

Natascha's career with ebm‑papst started out in 2012 in the marketing team in St. Georgen. Right from the start, she was able to contribute her ideas and use her own initiative to drive important projects forward. It was this drive that motivated her to continue her development and expand her qualifications with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. Fortunately, ebm‑papst as an employer supports this path – both financially and with the necessary scheduling flexibility. And so Natascha made the most of her parental leave with her first daughter: the new addition to the family did not just turn everything upside down in her private life but also gave her the opportunity to start her MBA in Sales and Service Engineering just eleven weeks after having her baby. During this time, Natascha attended the University of Applied Sciences two days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.. But she also spent a lot of time familiarizing herself with the course material or studying for exams on the other days. "While my daughter had her morning nap, I worked for two to three hours and then again in the evening from 8 p.m. when her husband took over," she recalls.

"Studying while on parental leave - that's something that takes true willpower. And I had that will!"

Naturally, it was still exhausting because of the sometimes sleepless nights. For Natascha, however, the advantages still outweigh the disadvantages and she says: "It hasn't really harmed any of us – on the contrary, it was actually very beneficial for the father-daughter bond, as he took care of our daughter alone all day on Saturdays."

After almost a year of studying with ebm‑papst while caring for a baby, she completed the MBA in Sales & Service Engineering as the second-best student in her year. Having graduated with her new qualification, her first step was to join the international sales department of the Industrial Drive Technology division. However, she knew from the outset that she wanted to develop further within the company as an industrial engineer with an MBA.

Then, however, things turned out quite differently at short notice: for the second time, Natascha and her husband became parents to another daughter. When she was born, Natascha was able to take on projects from her superior, then Head of the Industrial Drive Technology Division and in 2024 Vice President of the Industrial Drive Technology Division, which were very important for the division but not time-critical. This gave her the flexibility she needed to work a few hours despite having her – what were then – two children. Moreover, she was given the opportunity to work from home very early on.

After having her third child, she returned to the marketing department. In a part-time job, she initially took on the marketing for the Industrial Drive Technology Strategic Business Field.

In June 2023, another great opportunity arose that allowed her to expand her responsibilities. As part of the strategic restructuring, Natascha moved to the international marketing department, where she currently works part-time. Based in St. Georgen, she works with around 14 colleagues from all European locations to implement the "Making the future together" strategy. Natascha's scope of responsibilities includes various projects that focus on how the European locations are developing in the area of marketing. How processes can be centralized and how communication can be improved. She is also responsible for implementing campaigns, networking and providing colleagues abroad with marketing materials.

That's plenty, especially as her husband, who also works at ebm‑papst, is in a management position and therefore has a full-time job. In such a position, it is not so easy to reduce hours, not least because of the workload. However, thanks to the fact that Natascha can work from home, the two of them manage their daily routine with relative ease. "My husband and I have known each other for a very long time, have very open communication – and a real talent for organization. That's where our planning engineering background comes in handy," says Natascha with a laugh.
For her, her work is more than just a job. She wants to follow her own path and have a fulfilling professional life that is independent of her parenthood.

"Financial security is important, but above all we need to be happy as a family. That's why we live a cooperative parenthood and career model."

Natascha and her husband are therefore all the more grateful that ebm‑papst offers them the flexibility to perfectly match their working day to their family life. Natascha is certain that this aspect will become increasingly important for a new generation of parents in the near future. Consequently, ebm‑papst already has a big head start when it comes to recruiting young talent.
